It’s sad to already be thinking about Fall and Winter since we are in the middle of July, but it will be here sooner than we know it! This means that my due date is also fast approaching, and I will have my second in less than two months! I literally cannot believe it!!
Since I like to be prepared ahead of time, I am already planning a postpartum “capsule wardrobe” and adding a few pieces to my closet that are nursing-friendly. My goal was to create a capsule wardrobe that is comfortable for the postpartum period, but also one that would make me feel more put together. Even though I am probably going to be staying at home for the first couple of weeks, our social calendar is usually more filled during the Fall with the Holidays and other family events.
These pieces are perfect for the postpartum period but they are also great Fall and Winter staples for anyone!

Nursing Bras – These are my personal favorite nursing bras from Amazon!
Nursing Tanks – Nursing tanks are essential for breastfeeding, and you can get these in different colors from Old Navy.
Long Sleeve Nursing Tees – Another great staple for breastfeeding moms! Perfect for everyday wear around the house.
White Chunky Cardigan – This Everlane cardigan comes in different colors and gives easy access for breastfeeding. It’s super cozy and perfect for pairing with a skirt or any pair of pants.
Striped Half-Zip Sweater – A basic striped sweater that adds something different to the wardrobe. This one is also great for nursing!
White Graphic Sweatshirt – Everyone needs a crew neck sweatshirt in their wardrobe (in my opinion). It’s perfect for lounging around in the house and just everyday casual wear, which is what you need after giving birth.
Wrap Sweater Top – An Amazon find that will make you feel more put together, but is also great for breastfeeding. This top goes well with a pair of jeans, faux leather leggings, or any of the skirts.
Fuzzy Gray Cardigan – A cozy Fall and Winter staple that is perfect for going out or wearing around the house.
Brown Cardigan – I love cardigans because of the comfort aspect and just how easy they are. I see myself pairing this with a nursing tank and leggings, and just wearing that every day.
Check Blazer – We all know blazers are a capsule wardrobe staple!
Fleece Shirt Jacket – Shirt jackets are perfect for the Fall when you need extra layering, but it’s not cold enough for a coat. Great for going on walks, running errands, etc.
Classic Trench Coat – This is another basic staple for a fall capsule wardrobe, perfect with any outfit!
Black Puffer Coat – As soon as it hits below 60 degrees, my puffer coat is out! This is pretty much what I wear every day outside in the Winter (unless I am going to church or going out). Buying a good puffer coat is an investment but the cost per wear is low since it will last for years and years!
White Cargo Sweatpants – Sweatpants are another essential for the postpartum period. Having them in white is a bit risky with children but so far I’ve been able to keep stains out. I feel like white just makes things feel a little bit more elevated.
Taupe Sweatpants – This is another pair of sweatpants from Abercrombie & Fitch. A&F has easily become one of my favorite places to shop for clothes. The quality feels so good and being 5′ 11″, I love that they have long options for many of their bottoms.
Black Jeans – I was not able to fit into my old jeans for almost a year after having Caleb. That is why I decided to buy myself a pair of black jeans that would fit me during postpartum this time around. It’s important to have clothes that fit and feel good because it can really affect the way you feel about yourself. Plus, I feel like black jeans can be a little more forgiving than blue ones.
Espresso Pants – Everlane calls these “The Easy Pant” and after having a baby I want dressing up to be easy. They are super comfortable with the waistband, and are perfect for the Fall!
Black Leggings – These pair of leggings are by Lululemon Align, and they are a bit of an investment. I pretty much live in them though, because they are so comfortable, so the cost per wear is not too bad!
Spanx Faux Leather Leggings – Leather leggings may be a little intimidating for postpartum time, but I wanted something that would work well for going out, and make my outfit a little bit more elevated. These leggings are not the super shiny ones (which I personally like) and they make it really easy to look more “dressed up”.
Chocolate Brown Midi Dress – Knit dresses are perfect for the fall and winter because of how comfortable they are! I love the color of this one from Petal and Pup since it gives the perfect “fall vibes”.
Belted Midi Knit Dress – Another knit dress that is very comfortable and makes breastfeeding easy with the buttons. & Other Stories is probably my favorite place to shop for midi dresses!
Henley Sweater Dress – This dress is a bit more casual but also perfect for breastfeeding moms.
Beige Ribbed Sweater Dress – I wear either dresses or skirts to church so this one is perfect for the colder winter months!
Floral Print Midi Skirt – A cute skirt option for the Fall, just throw on a top, a jacket or sweater, and a pair of boots, and you’re good to go!
Black Ribbed Knit Skirt – This skirt is from Uniqlo. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the items I have purchased from there. A black knit midi skirt is another Fall and Winter staple in my opinion!
Layered Pleated Skirt – I love this pleated skirt from Theory because it works all year round! This one does run a bit large.
Black Bootie – A good quality pair of black leather booties is an investment but will last for a long time. This particular pair is by Vince and they are just a classic.
Veja Campo Sneaker – If you are looking for a cute stylish pair of sneakers, this is it! They are on the pricier side but I love their aesthetic and they work with any outfit.
Sand Suede Pointed Toe Mule – The perfect shoe for the Fall when you are not ready to wear boots yet!
Slingback Pointed Toe Pump – Another classic black shoe! This one is by Franco Sarto.
I hope that this Fall and Winter Capsule Wardrobe has given you some inspiration for postpartum outfits you can wear in the cooler months. Most of these pieces are classic staples for anyone but I tried to pick things that are comfortable, don’t require much effort, and are nursing-friendly.
