When it comes to baby products, there are SO MANY out there on the market these days that it’s hard to decide what to purchase, especially when it’s your first!
When I was pregnant with our first, I added everything I could think of to my registry. I mean, I didn’t know what I would actually use! With our second, I was much more minimal. And because we live in a 1,000 sq. ft. home, I was also limited by the space.
To be honest, it was a breath of fresh air, not having our home cluttered with so many baby items with our second.
Now that I am about to have our third baby, I began thinking about the products I will be using and what I still need to purchase. I realized that there are only several products that I consistently used that have made my life so much easier in the beginning.
Now, as the baby grows you end up needing different baby gear, but for at least the first several months, these are the baby products I used the MOST (not including baby clothes, feeding/ changing, or going out with baby).

My 5 Most Used Baby Items:
1. Baby Bouncer
I used this bouncer pretty much every day! The manufacturer says to use this only on the floor, but with having a toddler, I liked to put it up on the kitchen island (under my supervision of course) to keep the baby out of my toddler’s reach.
My baby absolutely loved his bouncer and would fall asleep in it all the time.
The one that we had was by Baby Bjorn. It is a pricier bouncer but I have heard that compared to other bouncers, the bounce feels more fluid (if that makes any sense!).
I feel like baby swings can be a hit or miss, but I do know of a lot of babies that love the bouncer.
2. Solly Wrap
The Solly wrap took me some time to figure out, but once I did, I LOVED it!
I feel like with these types of wraps, there is a bit of a learning curve.
It also takes some time to get used to the baby being so snug against you, and they can be tricky to put on correctly and efficiently. With practice, though, you get the hang of them!
This wrap is perfect for the early days. In the beginning, my baby wanted to be held at all times, so it allowed me to get things done.
3. Play Gym
After the first month or so, we started using the play gym. Although both kids did not like to be on the floor for too long, it was nice to put them down at least for a little while.
There are better ones on the market these days, but this play gym served us well! It was used every single day until my kids began moving around on their own.
4. Portable Sound Machine
A sound machine is SO HELPFUL in my opinion! Both of my babies fell asleep so much faster when we had a portable sound machine with us.
With having a rambunctious toddler, it’s also nice to have some of the noise muffled out while the baby sleeps.
This is the one I used and loved.
5. Blanket(s)
I received quite a few blankets from my baby shower, and I am so grateful because they all came in handy!
I like to place a blanket underneath the baby any time I lay him down somewhere. That way, in case there is a spit-up or blowout, I simply throw the blanket in the wash.
It’s also nice because I know the blanket is clean and it acts as a barrier between the baby and the surface I lay him on.
