As I am slowly coming closer to my due date (end of August), I am thinking not just about all the things I need for baby but more so about the things I will need for a smoother postpartum recovery.
If you have gone through postpartum yourself, you understand how important it is to prepare beforehand. It takes a huge toll on your physical body, emotions, and hormones.
Did you know it can take up to 2 years for your body to fully recover after having a baby?!
Since I have two other toddlers to take care of, I want to make sure I am prepared to support my body with what it needs to recover faster. After doing my research, listening to other moms, and just my own previous experience, I have created a list of all the products I will be using for postpartum recovery.

These are my postpartum recovery must-haves:
- LMNT ELECTROLYTES – I enjoy these flavors and the amount of electrolytes in each pack. But honestly, any electrolytes are good to take during this time!
- VITAMIN D3– Vitamin D is crucial for balancing hormones. Also, since I’m probably not going to be out of the house much, I need to make sure that I am supplementing.
- MAGNESIUM – Your body needs magnesium to be able to use vitamin D. So taking one without the other causes a disbalance. Also, magnesium is important for so many body functions! This particular one contains the form magnesium glycinate which is really good for anxiety, mood, and sleep.
- ACTIVE B COMPLEX – Important for energy!
- AFTEREASE – For when those postpartum uterine contractions hit!
- REBALANCE – This supplement contains herbs like Motherwort, Black Haw, Burdock, Yarrow, Calendula, and St. John’s Wort, which are great for balancing mood and hormones.
- FENUGREEK – This supplement is not so much for postpartum recovery itself, but I included it because I struggle with milk supply and fenugreek is one of those herbs that has been shown to help with that.
- PRUNELAX – A stool softener because if you have had a baby, you know how scary it is to go #2 after giving birth!
- SHATAVARI – This is another herbal supplement that helps with regulating hormones.
- SILVER NIPPLE SHIELDS – I have not used these silver shields yet but I HAVE heard so many great things about them! They are supposed to be great for helping the nipples heal and prevent any irritation or infection.
- FRIDA MOM PERI BOTTLE – Love this peri bottle for its angled nozzle!
- DERMOPLAST – This stuff helps so much with the pain and itching those first couple of weeks!
- ALWAYS PROTECTION UNDERWEAR – After the first few days of using the hospital’s mesh underwear and gigantic pads, I like to switch to these. They still offer great leak protection but are more comfortable in my opinion. I usually wear them with a pad for extra coverage.
- CORA PANTY LINERS – Once the bleeding slows down a bit, I like to have these thin panty liners on hand.
- OWALA WATTER BOTTLE – This water bottle is my favorite! Always have it near me during pregnancy and postpartum.
- HONEY POT PADS – These are the pads I switch to after the first few days. I wear them with the Always underwear in the beginning.
