Being in my third trimester with my second baby, I am beginning to plan for the postpartum period. I feel like many women focus on preparing for the baby making sure they have all the newborn diapers, the clothes, and the nursery ready, but they forget to prepare for themselves. Honestly, I think it is just as important (if not more so) to make sure you have everything you need!
Knowing how hard the fourth trimester can be, I am making sure that I have everything I need to make my life a little bit easier. Also, what I have learned is that Amazon can be your best friend during that time because of how fast and convenient the shipping is. These are my favorite postpartum essentials that I personally loved. Some of these items I still have and some I will be making sure to purchase again!

- Cross Band Slippers. Having slippers is a must for postpartum, especially in the cooler months! I really liked these since they are super cute and affordable!
- Metal Utility Cart. Okay, having this cart was a lifesaver during the nights. I replaced my nightstand with it and packed it with my postpartum supplies as well as anything I would need for the baby so that I had everything handy. Made my life so much more convenient! You can also have this in the bathroom for postpartum supplies too.
- Earth Mama Nipple Butter. I loved this nipple butter. It’s organic, has no preservatives petroleum, or lanolin, and works great!
- Crop Top Loungewear Set. It is definitely worth getting a few sets of comfortable loungewear for the first few weeks of postpartum. This one is great because the crop top makes it easy to breastfeed and it looks nice too!
- Waffle Knit Loungewear Set. This is another loungewear set that’s cute and does not break the bank. It works great during the warmer months or even as PJs!
- IQ Mix Electrolyte Packets. Electrolytes are super important after giving birth and losing all that water and blood. I’m someone with low blood pressure to begin with, so this is a must for me! I really like these because they also have Lion’s Mane, which is really good for brain and mood support.
- Baby Diaper Caddy. This caddy organizer is what I place on my postpartum cart. I packed it with all the baby supplies that I needed throughout the night, and it made my postpartum life so much easier!! I love having everything organized and within arm’s reach.
- Iron Flask Water Bottle. Having a large water bottle is another MUST! Drinking lots of water is one of the best things you can do to keep up your milk supply. I really like this one from amazon because not only is it super cute but it also holds up to 40 oz of water.
- Pink Stork Postnatal. Taking a postnatal is just as important as taking prenatal vitamins. This one also contains DHA which supports brain health. It has clean ingredients and is third-party tested too.
- Thena Sitz Bath Soak. This is another one of my favorite essentials for healing and soothing the bottom after birth. I personally like this bath soak because it has more healing herbs than some of the other ones.
- HOFISH Nursing Bras. These bras are probably my favorite ones that I have tried for nursing. They are really comfortable and provide easy access for breastfeeding.
- Sitz Bath for Toilet Seat. This sitz bath is pure genius for those of us who don’t take baths. I loved how convenient and easy it was to use and man did it help soothe the area “down there”!
- Frida Mom Peri Bottle. I feel like this is a very popular postpartum care item and for a good reason! The spout really is more convenient and easier to use. One thing that I preferred about the hospital one though is that the water stayed warm longer. I found that with this one the water cooled down really fast, but if you use it right away that should not be a problem.
- Dermoplast. A basic postpartum essential that you might get from your hospital like I did. It works really fast and I would use it along with the tucks that I lined my pad with.
- Faux-Wrap Sweater. Something to think about if you are getting close to delivering is having some tops or dresses that are nursing-friendly (if that is something you are planning to do). This one from Amazon is perfect for that!
- Lansinoh Nursing Pads. I have used these disposable nursing pads and have found them to be the easiest. Especially when we are traveling or out and about. I am thinking of switching to the reusable ones but the thought of having one more thing to wash and keep track of just does not sound appealing to me (I might try it out with my next one!).
- Tucks. This is another postpartum essential that most women already know about and love! I personally used two packs of them because I would line 2 or 3 of them every time and it comes in a pack of 100. Obviously, that depends on how long it takes to heal and how bad your tear was (mine was a 2nd degree).
- Always Discreet Underwear. I pretty much wore these underwear from day one after giving birth. I know that a lot of women like the disposable postpartum underwear that they give you at the hospital, but I personally did not find them comfortable. These provided the protection I needed without feeling like I was wearing a diaper.
- The Honey Pot Winged Pads. These are the pads I used for the first couple of weeks when the bleeding was heavier. I would line them with tucks and use them with the Always underwear for extra protection.
- Lansinoh TheraPearl Breast Therapy Pack. Although I did not purchase these before the baby came, after getting a couple of clogged ducts they proved to be very beneficial to have! Using the heat along with breastfeeding helped me get rid of my VERY PAINFUL clogged ducts.
- Soothing Gel Pads. Those first couple of days of breastfeeding can be rough! These soothing gel pads really help cool and protect the nipples from rubbing.
